Josh Jacobs continues to put up big numbers every week for the Packers. Jacobs ranks 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards, behind only Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley. Jacobs has also been playing some of his best football of the season recently, scoring seven touchdowns in his last five games. In the last game against the Lions, Jacobs had a really good game, rushing for 95 yards on just 13 carries. That 7.3 yards per carry is Jacobs’ highest YPC total in a game this season.

The Packers have one of the best offenses in the NFL, ranking 8th in EPA/Play and 9th in EPA/Rush. However, the Lions’ defense is on par with the Packers’ elite offense. Detroit has the best defense in the league by EPA/game and ranks 4th in defense by EPA/rush. However, the Lions’ rush defense numbers are somewhat inflated based on how most games have played out. The Lions only lost one game all season and dominated in many of their games. This results in opposing offenses having to be pass-heavy in order to keep up with the Lions’ elite offense. The Packers are one of the better teams the Lions have faced all season, and the Packers should be able to maintain a more balanced game plan on offense. That should give Jacobs more touches than most running backs get against Detroit.

My favorite bet on Josh Jacobs is that he gets over 90.5 rushing and receiving yards. Jacobs surpassed that number in rushing yards alone against the Lions the last time these teams faced off. Jacobs has mastered this rushing + receiving number in six straight games prior to this matchup and in 9 of 12 games overall this season. Jacobs has really excelled as a receiver with 58 yards and 74 yards in two of his last three games, his two highest receiving yards totals of the season. If he can maintain that type of receiving performance and break a few big runs, he should reach those numbers on Thursday night against the Lions.
