Lionel Messi resisted in Jamaica for Inter Miami

The head coach of Inter Miami CF Javier Mascherano confirmed that Lionel Messi will travel to Jamaica with the team to see the 16th series Cavalier FC on Thursday in the Kingston-Independence Park in Kingston-Runde.

Messi missed the previous three Miami games on the basis of what Mascherano described as load management.

“Leo Messi is on the squad and will travel to Jamaica with the team,” Mascherano told Media on Wednesday. “Tomorrow we will choose the game what is best when he starts or waiting on the bench and will come in later.

“Today he trained with the team and the sensations were good. We are glad that he will travel to Jamaica with us.”

The team will travel on Wednesday to follow the Concacaf protocol and be at the location of the game 24 hours before the start.

In order to avoid future injuries, Mascherano Messi could not include in the roster for the games against Houston Dynamo and Cavalier FC before leaving him on the bank for the entire game against Charlotte FC on Sunday.

The coach emphasized several times that Messi had not suffered any injury at the beginning of the season, but he simply decided to rest the player to minimize the risks after starting the 2025 campaign with three games within seven days.

Inter Miami will now prepare to return with most of the squad in the second leg in the second leg against defender Maxi Falcon after missing the match against Charlotte due to a blow on his leg during the Champions Cup campaign.

Miami enters the game on Thursday with a 2-0 lead against Cavalier after winning the first game in the Chase Stadium last week. Mascherano emphasized that he looked at nothing but a matter of course, although he has thrown concerns about the conditions of the field in Jamaica’s capital

“We know that we will play a hard game for ourselves tomorrow. It is a game that is not only very important for this week, but for the season because we had the chance to be up to the quarter -finals,” said Mascherano.

“In the end, of course, we prefer whether the field is good, better for us for the way we play. But we have to play in the state that the field is.”

Should Inter Miami end the victory in Jamaica, the team would compete in the quarter -finals against MLS opponents LAFC.
