It was a little surprising to see the 16-35 Toronto Raptors in the position of a buyer on Wednesday before the deadline on Thursday at 3 p.m. at 3 p.m. in the buyer, but they have reported a plan.

ESPNS Shams Charania reported that they exchanged Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, a choice in the first round and a second round against the New Orleans Pelicans in return for Brandon Ingram.

“For the Raptors, they try to have Scottie Barnes there,” said Charania Sports center (3:25 mark). “You really want to build around him. For Brandon Ingram, last year of his contract, he may find a home for the foreseeable future.”

That meant a solid role player in Brown, but it always felt like a forerunner of a future trade when the Raptors took the $ 23 million option for his contract before the 2024-25 season.

Toronto also signaled that a renovation of Barnes came last season when both Pascal Siakam and OG exchanged anunoby. The team seemed to build Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, Gradey Dick, Davion Mitchell and Ja’kobe age, looking at the future.

Brown is now the kind of player who is better suited for a supportive role for Star players in a competing team. The 28-year-old scored an average of 9.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 52 games (11 starts) with the raptors in the last two seasons. And in 33 games with the Indiana Pacers last season, he scored the best 12.1 points per game on average.

He was an important role player for the Denver Nuggets in the team championship during the 2022-23 campaign with an average of 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, while he scored 35.8 percent off the field.

In the two seasons before, he added important depth and versatility to the Brooklyn networks before the experiment of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving broke up.

But the raptors needed more than that near Barnes if they want to develop into a candidate for a candidate for the Eastern Conference in the near future, and Ingram offers a much higher blanket.

An expansion must first sign, but Charania’s report suggested that the front office will do exactly that. In the best case, Ingram can give the raptors another top scorer, and this season he has an average of 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

Shelf life is a matter of seeing how he has not played since December 7th and has not played more than 64 games since his rookie campaign in 2016-17, but it would be no surprise if Toronto was returning Slowly absorbs to ensure that it is fully healthy.

After all, its real effect as a building block next to Barnes could be over 2024-25 if the team can keep it in the long term.
