Total Lunar Eclipse tonight! Partly cloudy and cooler on Friday

A Winter weather advice is in force for parts of the southwestern Montana (including the Big Belt Mountains) until 12 p.m. on Friday.

The entire lunar eclipse happens tonight! This happens when the moon is full and when the sun, the earth and the moon are all in a straight line, the earth throws a shadow on the moon. The longer wavelength colors (red and orange) from the sun go through the earth’s atmosphere and are then broken onto the surface of the moon, making it appear red/orange. Totality will occur between 12:26 p.m. Mdt and 1:31 a.m. This is the time when the moon is completely red.

Unfortunately, the consideration conditions in many Montana will not be so good because mostly cloudy skies are expected, but there should be a few breaks in the clouds in central -Montana. The best consideration conditions will be in the western part of the state.

Göndere Winde will break down in western parts of the North Central Montana when we go through this evening and tonight. In the eastern parts of North Central Montana, it will be airy tonight and tonight, since persistent wind speeds will be between 10 and 25 miles per hour. There will also be some scattered rain and mountain shoes this evening and tonight, mainly in central Montana and in eastern parts of the North Central Montana. A little snow and snow can sometimes interfere with this rain in the lower layers. It will also be a bit cold this evening, as lows will be in the 20s and low 30s.

For tomorrow we will have partly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening with some scattered rain and snow showers, especially in the mountains. Shower will be short and not show much. It will be much cooler tomorrow than today, since the heights will be in the middle of the above 30s and low until the mid -1940s. In some areas there will also be a child’s play tomorrow, since continuing wind speeds will be between 10 and 20 miles per hour.

On Saturday we will have partly in the cloudy sky on Saturday with some scattered rain and snow showers in the afternoon and evening when a disturbance leads through our area. On Sunday, especially in Helena, in the mountains and in places east of the I-15 in North Central Montana, there will be more scattered rain and swollening, as the disorder on Saturday is leaving our area and another disturbance on our region is influenced. Although there will be some scattered showers this weekend, not everyone will see this precipitation and more from the weekend will be dry than “wet”. We will also have mostly cloudy skies on Sunday.

On Saturday along the Rocky Mountain Front and in Central Montana it will also be a bit airy, since the ongoing wind speeds will be between 10 and 20 miles per hour. Windy winds are then expected on Sunday, since persistent wind speeds are between 10 and 30 miles per hour and wind gusts are possible over 40 miles per hour. At the Rocky Mountain Front, wind is still being expected, where there will be gusts of up to 60 miles per hour on Sunday. It will also be cool on Saturday, as the heights will be in the 40s and middle to upper 30s. Sunday will be a little warmer because the heights will be in the middle to upper 40s and low 50s.

Snow/rain is probably around Helena on St. Patrick’s Day (Monday) and there will be snow/rain showers scattered in North Central Montana on Monday in North Central Montana if another disturbance flows through our area. On Tuesday there will be a few scattered snow showers. We will also have mostly cloudy skies on Monday and partly cloudy sky on Tuesday.
